Lancet Series Broadcast: Ultra-Processed Foods and Human Health

On December 3, at Fiocruz Brasília, authorities, Brazilian and international researchers, and multilateral organizations will participate in the launch of The Lancet Series publication – Ultra-Processed Foods and Human Health. The event will be attended by Rita Lobo, chef and high-level supporter of the WFP in Brazil, who will give a presentation and moderate the debates in the last module. Produced by 43 authors from various countries, The Lancet Series provides robust evidence on how ultra-processed foods have restructured the world's diet, contributing to an increase in obesity, type 2 diabetes, depression, cardiovascular disease, and other health conditions. The articles also propose a global public policy agenda based on advertising regulation, labeling, taxation, and expanding access to healthy foods.
