SPARK's Networks of Change II | How Safe Spaces Are Transforming Youth Wellbeing in the KRI
Across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, young people are finding a place to be heard, supported, and empowered.
Under Networks of Change II, SPARK has established 11 Safe Spaces across three universities and eight high schools in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, spanning Raparin, Halabja, Charmo, Ranya, and Chamchamal. More than 150 students have been referred and supported, with documented improvements in school safety and academic engagement.
These spaces are built on trained psychological counselling, structured parent awareness programmes, and institutionalised referral systems developed in close collaboration with the Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Education.
In this video, hear directly from our educational and ministry partners about what this programme means for young people and the communities around them.
Networks of Change II is funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
