An estimated 20–30% of the world's fertilizer exports, and up to 50% of urea, pass through the Strait of Hormuz. One facility in Qatar alone accounts for 14% of global fertilizer exports. When that flow gets disrupted, farmers everywhere pay more, and eventually, so do you at the grocery store.
