The Future of UK Orchard Fruit | The Orchard Project
What if the UK's community orchards were more accessible and available to all? What if there were ample jobs and people with the skills needed to care for fruit trees and orchards of all sizes? The Orchard Project is a national charity dedicated to creating, maintaining and celebrating community orchards. The Orchard Project works closely with community groups to design new, and restore old, giving them the skills to maintain orchards as part of stronger communities and local food systems. In this film, Kath Rosen, CEO of The Orchard Project, shares more about the skills and training programme that The Orchard Project runs to create accessible and well-maintained community orchard spaces.
This #WorldAppleDay, we're reimagining orchards of the future. Based on insights from more than 150 stakeholders across the UK's top fruit sector, Forum for the Future's latest report - The Future of UK Orchard Fruit - highlights the escalating challenges threatening the longevity of traditional, commercial and community orchards. It paints a compelling vision for a better tomorrow and makes recommendations on how we get there.
