Think your health isn't impacted by climate change?
In May 2026, an independent Commission of former heads of government, international bodies, ministers and civil society leaders - convened by WHO Europe - called on WHO to formally declare climate change a public health emergency of international concern.
The Commission issued 17 recommendations in total, for what WHO and countries should do next. In short, it wants governments to start treating climate change as a threat to health security, to transform health systems, scale up local action, and reform the economic and financial systems that are driving the crisis.
