CANversation: From City Data to Climate Action

This session brought together members of the CAN community to explore how data can drive better urban and climate-related decision-making. The event featured interactive networking, followed by two insightful expert talks. Pravesh Kumari presented the City Data and Analytics Platform (CDAP), which integrates fragmented urban data in India into a standardized and accessible system. The platform enables policymakers, researchers, and planners to make more informed, data-driven decisions by improving data usability, interoperability, and visualization at the city level. The findings revealed significant variation in heat exposure within cities, strong links to health and productivity outcomes, and inequalities in people’s ability to cope—especially due to differences in access to cooling. The study also highlighted the importance of granular, citizen-level data and targeted policy interventions such as urban greening.
