Female mechanics breaking barriers in White Nile State
In White Nile State, Sudan, a group of young women is challenging stereotypes and building brighter futures through vocational skills training.
Through the PROSPECTS partnership programme, young women and men from refugee, displaced and host communities gained hands-on training in mechanics and received start-up kits to begin earning an income. Today, they are repairing motorcycles, tuk tuks, cars and essential community infrastructure while inspiring other girls to pursue their ambitions.
More than 600 young people have benefited from vocational training under the PROSPECTS programme, gaining market-relevant skills and pathways to sustainable livelihoods.
Funded by the Government of the Netherlands and implemented by UNICEF, ILO and UNHCR, PROSPECTS supports young people affected by conflict and displacement with opportunities to learn, earn and contribute to their communities. #ForEveryChild
