HNPW 2026: The 'Humanitarian Reset' in Action: Catalysing Locally-Led NGO Coordination Forums

The Localisation Agenda and the "Humanitarian Reset" calls for a transformative shift in humanitarian coordination, moving beyond symbolic integration of local actors into existing mechanisms, towards supporting strong locally led coordination structures. This session examined how national NGO-driven coordination mechanisms can provide essential spaces for joint contextual analysis, strategy definition, and operational harmonisation - especially concerning humanitarian access - in synergy with existing structures. Drawing on a strategic partnership between INTERSOS and Malian LNGO platform, the panel presented a practical model of a dedicated, locally designed and managed coordination framework around access. The discussion explored concrete modalities of such coordination frameworks (funding, facilitation, advocacy), how the international actors can catalyse these structures without co-opting them, how similar approaches could be replicated in other contexts, and ensure functional complementarity and mutual empowerment with the existing UN-led systems.
