Preventing and combating violence against children in and around schools in Tunisia

The Office of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence against Children participated in the national colloquium on “Preventing and combating violence in and around schools in Tunisia”, held on 3-4 February 2026. Dr Najat Maalla M’jid, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Violence underscored the urgency of ensuring safe, inclusive, and violence-free learning environments for every child, as the world approaches the 2030 Agenda deadline. The colloquium brought together a high-level and diverse group of participants, including representatives from the Minister of Education and over 13 other ministries to develop a "National Strategy to prevent and combat violence in and around schools in Tunisia". This strategy is part of the national efforts to prevent and protect children from violence. Together, we can put an end to violence against children in schools and their surroundings, leaving no child behind.
