Is Hezbollah weak enough to be forced out by Lebanon?
Calls to “force Hezbollah out” of Lebanon face significant constraints. Unlike past dynamics, Hezbollah is a Lebanese entity backed by Iran — not an external force — making any attempt to use the Lebanese army against it a potentially destabilizing move that could risk civil war.
As ACLED Lebanon & Jordan Researcher Bassel Doueik says in his interview with @BBCNews, while Hezbollah has been militarily degraded, it is adapting its modus operandi. Rather than operating as a conventional force, the group is returning to guerrilla-style, hit-and-run tactics to increase costs for Israel in southern Lebanon.
