The Project Shikshantar
The Project Shikshantar aims to strengthen the continuity of education by developing grade-appropriate learning competencies through supplementary learning support, enhancing mental wellbeing outcomes for children, and raising awareness among women workers in Noida's garment factories on occupational health and safety, violence against women, and sexual harassment in the workplace.
The supplementary learning support have been provided by establishing supplementary learning centers to improve the academic performance of children in Grades 6 to 10 through supplementary classes in core subjects including Mathematics, Science, and English, while ensuring their smooth transition to higher grades. In addition, with a strong focus on competency-based education, the project strives for the holistic development of students, placing equal emphasis on their mental wellbeing. The project also intervened on enhancing children's mental health in shaping their overall growth, positively impacting their emotional wellbeing and enhancing their performance both academically and beyond. Further, the project also worked on improving legal awareness among garment factory workers, focusing on their rights in the workplace. It aimed to enhance their understanding of key issues such as occupational health and safety, welfare provisions, minimum wages, and protection from violence and sexual harassment by conducting a series of workshops and assessing their impact. By fostering this awareness, the initiative empowers workers to address both personal and professional challenges more effectively. The video also underscores the need to ensure safe and supportive spaces for women in the workplace.
