The popularity of "green" vocational programs in the Republic of Moldova is on the rise: last year, over 160 students chose to enroll in new renewable energy programs launched by several technical vocational education institutions across the country.
Most students opted for the Electrician in Construction - Solar Photovoltaic Systems Installer specialization. This program was launched by Vocational Schools No. 3, 7, and 9 in Chișinău, Vocational School No. 4 in Bălți as well as Center of Excellence in Energy and Electronics.
The three-year program prepares electricians and solar photovoltaic installers by combining classroom lessons with applied training directly on specialized equipment.
The program trains specialists in the installation, connection, and commissioning of solar systems, adhering to safety regulations and electrical standards. It is an increasingly sought-after profession, offering rapid employment opportunities both at home and abroad.
The International Labour Organization project “Skills for an environmentally sustainable transition in Moldova” is funded by the Austrian Development Agency, as part of International Partnerships Austria, and the Liechtenstein Development Service Foundation.
The component regarding the development of the regulatory framework for the new study programs is implemented in partnership with the Educational for Development (AED) Association.
