Alternative proteins as a climate change solution

Alternative proteins as a climate change solution

🫢 There’s a climate solution that’s missing from most conversations: alternative proteins. From plant-based ingredients to fermentation-derived proteins and meat cultivated directly from animal cells, alternative proteins offer familiar foods for a (rapidly) growing population with a fraction of the land, water, and emissions. Diversifying how we produce protein is one of the most efficient ways to cut climate impacts, adapt to climate change, and build a resilient food system. Yet, it remains largely overlooked. At GFI Europe, we’re putting alternative proteins at the centre of Europe’s climate strategy – advancing open-access research, shaping policies, and driving collaboration.
