Obeïda Est School: A Beacon of Hope and Community Resilience
Since its founding in 1958, Obeïda Est School has been more than a place of learning - it has stood as a pillar of community strength and collective determination. Generations have grown within its walls, shaped by values of knowledge, perseverance, and unity.
The school’s renewal began with small yet powerful acts: renovating showers, organising a community-led cleaning campaign, and transforming an old bus area with new paving, fencing, and stairs built by the Les Scouts Tunisiens - الكشافة التونسية and Ifrikya Center for Common Ground.
Through the New Chance initiative, the school became a hub of engagement and inclusion. Its roof was repaired, windows secured, and benches made from recycled metal. A new library also came to life, inspiring curiosity and lifelong learning.
This collective effort strengthened the school’s role as a safe, inclusive space that helps prevent marginalisation and violent extremism by fostering belonging, opportunity, and hope.
Today, Obeïda Est School stands as living proof that a better Tunisia - rooted in education, resilience, and peace - is already taking shape.
