Antou Was Meant to Be Married — Instead, She Found Her Way Back to School
Twelve-year-old Antou was facing forced marriage and exclusion from school after her family was displaced by conflict in Mopti, Mali. Without documentation or protection, her future was being decided for her. With the intervention of community leader Mariam Sow and her organisation AKOS — supported by Right To Play's EMPOWER project — Antou's marriage was prevented, her birth certificate obtained, and her place in a learning centre secured. Today she is one of her class's strongest students, and wants to grow up to help other girls like her.
