Ghost Nets by Summaiya Khursheed
Karachi’s coastline is facing a silent threat. Abandoned fishing gear, known as ghost nets and ghost gear, continues to trap marine life long after it is discarded, contributing to the death of fish and damaging fragile ocean ecosystems. These invisible hazards are not only harming biodiversity but also affecting the livelihoods of coastal communities.
This documentary by Summaiya Khursheed, produced under Frames of Change by Accountability Lab Pakistan in collaboration with Green Media Initiative, highlights the scale of this issue and the urgent need for responsible fishing practices and stronger waste management.
