Bangladesh: Q&A with Selina Akhter on Climate change and education
Bangladesh is highly vulnerable to climate change, facing frequent floods, riverbank erosion, lightning, and other extreme weather events that disrupt schooling and affect learning conditions. Selina Akhter, Assistant Director at the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE), shares how these challenges are impacting primary schools and how the system is responding. Through the Climate Smart Education Systems Initiative (CSESI), funded by the Global Partnership for Education, workshops and capacity development are equipping education officials with new knowledge to better anticipate risks and strengthen resilience across the system.
