Dust on the move: A year of dust storms in 2025
From the Sahara to the Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea, 2025 was a year of dust in motion - and now you can watch the whole thing unfold in minutes.
This video brings together Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) dust forecast data and Meteosat-12 dust RGB imagery to trace the journeys of desert dust plumes across continents and oceans.
Plumes that began as dry, sun-baked sediment in north Africa became intercontinental travellers, dimming skies, affecting air quality, grounding flights, and fertilising ocean waters thousands of kilometres from their source.
Produced using data from the Copernicus Programme and EUMETSAT's Meteosat-12 satellite.
