How to make Brazilian cheese bread đ§đ #proveg #veganrecipes
Dive into the truly Brazilian soul of this delicious snack! Our Plant-Based Cheese Bread (PĂŁo de Queijo or Brazilian Cheese-Free Bread Bites) is made with tapioca starch (polvilho), a staple from the cassava root, and here we swap the cheese for a creamy blend of mashed potato, olive oil, and a pinch of nutritional yeast for that nostalgic 'cheesy' hint. đ§
Perfect served with your morning coffee â or split and filled with doce de leite (caramel) or plant-based cheese for an irresistible treat.
Ingredients:
2 cups sour tapioca starch (polvilho azedo)
1 cup sweet tapioca starch (polvilho doce)
½ cup vegetable oil (sunflower, coconut, or light olive oil)
1 cup hot water
½ cup mashed potato or arracacha
½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1 tsp ground turmeric
1 tbsp nutritional yeast (optional)
Instructions:
Heat the water with the oil and salt until it just begins to boil.
In a large bowl, mix the sour and sweet tapioca starches.
Pour the hot liquid over the starch mixture and stir with a spoon until it forms a moist, crumbly dough.
When cool enough to handle, add the mashed potato, turmeric, and nutritional yeast.
Knead with your hands until smooth. If the dough feels too dry, add a little more water.
Shape into small balls and bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for about 25 minutes, or until lightly golden.
Enjoy this piece of Brazilian comfort! Save this post so you don't lose the recipe! đ
